After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be taken to the airport for your flight to Arequipa.

Upon your arrival you’ll be met and transferred to your comfortable Arequipa hotel. After your check in you’ll take a city tour.

Day 4. Colca Valley

A bus picks you up from your hotel between 08.00 and 08.30 a.m. The bus takes you on the road to Yura heading towards the Valley of the Colca. This road, a trip of 4 hours towards your first night destiny, is half asphalted and half of sand. The 4 hours trip is not direct, but highlighted with stops at the most important places. The first stop will be at the National Reserve of Aguada Blanca and Salinas, a place where you can observe the famous vicuñas and the other side of the volcanoes of Arequipa. The second stop will be at the Police station where a Passengers list will be given to them and after that you continue until the third stop, the restaurant El Chino, where you can use the bathrooms, drink a coca tea – good for stomach and altitude – and a place where you can appreciate the stone wood formations. The fourth part is a place where you can see llamas and alpacas, domesticated by the man in the heights. The fifth stop is on the highest point called Patapampa 4800 meters above sea level. Here is where you can observe 8 volcanoes forming a circle of fire. Later, you descent Chivay have lunch and rest in your hotel. You have time off after lunch, visit the market of Chivay, rest or stay in the hotel. In the afternoon you visit the hot springs of LA CALERA, where you can bathe in one of the pools with water temperature of 35 to 40 degrees Celsius and in the source 80 degrees Celsius. You return to your hotel at night and optional you visit some folkloric peñas in the town of Chivay.

Day 4. Colca Valley

Day 5. Colca Valley

From Chivay it is approximately one hour and a half driving. You’ll stay there about 1 hour. Taking the same road back to Chivay, you visit the Colca towns Yanque, with its beautiful church and Maca with its interesting geological problem, the lookout points Huayrapunko – a complete view of the terraces and the mysterious lagoons of the valley – Quehuisha – ice melts originated from the Amazons – . Finally you arrive in Chivay, where You’ll have  time for lunch and after that you return to Arequipa around 5 pm.

After breakfast around 6.00 am you leave to the Condor Cross at 6.30 am, where you can observe the Canyon of the Colca and the flight of the Condor. From Chivay it is approximately one hour and a half driving. You’ll stay there about 1 hour. We will be given a donation and transferred to the  shelter in a private car to release the grant and get involved in the social part that the company promotes.

The shelter is an association working since 1997 in Cusco for the rights and interests of children in need. Home to children in situations of parental or social difficulty deprotection temporary or permanent inability of the family to care for them. They come from the Family Commission, Family Courts , etc. They take children from 0 to 17, avoiding separate sibling groups.

They support the integration of children with disabilities. Attending their material, educational, emotional and spiritual needs  in the most possible familiar environment .

Additionally You can  bring Any donation  you think convenient,  new or in good condition.

All is  well   received.

Your full-day Sacred Valley tour begins with a scenic drive to Pisac, where you will visit its famous, lively market. Hundreds of traditionally-dressed artisans and sellers journey from surrounding villages to sell their crafts and produce at this market. Ceramics, carvings, weavings, and jewelry are popular items.

You will stop in Urubamba where you will have some free time to explore the town and have lunch (included).

Continue to the ancient and serene town of Ollantaytambo, which has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century, and visit its impressive hillside fortress ruins.

Enjoy the breathtaking scenery during your return trip to Cusco.

Sacred valley tour

Day 8. Sacred Valley

Your full-day Sacred Valley tour begins with a scenic drive to Pisac, where you will visit its famous, lively market. Hundreds of traditionally-dressed artisans and sellers journey from surrounding villages to sell their crafts and produce at this market. Ceramics, carvings, weavings, and jewelry are popular items.

You will stop in Urubamba where you will have some free time to explore the town and have lunch (included).

Continue to the ancient and serene town of Ollantaytambo, which has been continuously inhabited since the 13th century, and visit its impressive hillside fortress ruins.

Enjoy the breathtaking scenery during your return trip to Cusco.

Day 9. Machu Picchu

You’ll have an early morning wake up to begin this exciting day.

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the train station for your trip to Aguas Calientes.

Upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes, you’ll take a short 30-minute bus ride to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

In the afternoon, you’ll have a 2-hour guided tour of the citadel.

Throughout the day, you’ll have the chance to explore the ruins on your own.

In the late afternoon you’ll take your return train to Cusco where you’ll be met and transferred to your Cusco hotel

Day 9. Machu Picchu

You’ll have an early morning wake up to begin this exciting day.

Upon your arrival to Aguas Calientes, you’ll take a short 30-minute bus ride to the citadel of Machu Picchu.

Expedition service departs from two stations: Cusco (Poroy) and the Sacred Valley (Ollantaytambo). From Poroy station located about 20 minutes from downtown Cusco, the journey to Machu Picchu lasts just over three hours. From the Sacred Valley (Ollantaytambo) this is a journey of one hour and 30 minutes. We pick up you from your hotel and transfer from Cusco to Ollantaytambo by bus, this trip takes one hour and 30 minutes.

Upon your arrival you’ll be met and transferred  to the INKATERRA LOUNGE (BUTTERFLY HOUSE), where our staff will welcome you and give you the necessary information for your stay.

Navigate by outboard motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion (approximately 25-minute navigation). You will enjoy LUNCH with organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch, take a walk through CONCEPCION TRAILS, our inside property nature trails, where you will discover and learn about primary and secondary rainforest, its components,

uses, transformations by the human being, and its relevance for the world.

At dusk navigate by outboard motorized canoe, at the TWILIGHT RIVER excursion. Sailing on the Madre de Dios River, you will learn about its ecosystem, Amazonian creeks, nocturnal animals’ behavior, and the southern constellations. In the evening enjoy a nice DINNER at the dining room in the Casa Grande.

Day 10. Cusco – Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight to Puerto Maldonado.

Upon your arrival you’ll be met and transferred  to the INKATERRA LOUNGE (BUTTERFLY HOUSE), where our staff will welcome you and give you the necessary information for your stay.

Navigate by outboard motorized canoe along the Madre de Dios River to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion (approximately 25-minute navigation). Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is called the biodiversity capital of Peru, while learning about the Reserve’s conservation efforts and the lake’s formation. Navigate by dugout canoe across this mirrorlike oxbow lake that is home to the endangered giant river otter , blue and yellow macaw , red howler monkey , black caiman, and one of the world’s biggest fresh water scaled fish, the paiche.

Back to the lodge for LUNCH, and later on the INKATERRA CANOPY WALKWAY & ANACONDA WALK awaits for you. Take a 20-minute ride by outboard motorized canoe to the Inkaterra Canopy Walkway Interpretation Center where you will learn about its construction and the conservation projects of ITA-Inkaterra Asociacion (NGO).

Ascend one of the two 98-foot towers (30 m.) and cross the 7 hanging bridges that connect the treetops at 91 ft. high (28 m.). Enjoy the breathtaking vistas and get the chance to watch white-throated toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, squirrel monkeys and the three-toed sloth . After descending keep on feeling the incredible primary rainforest energy going along the 200-meter wooden bridge over the aguajales swamps. You will learn about the fauna and flora of this flooded ecosystem.

At night get ready for an adventure at the HIDDEN RAINFOREST excursion, where you will explore the Amazon rainforest that gives way to nocturnal animals who display intriguing behavior patterns, and enhanced senses as adaptation mechanisms. Listen to nocturnal living nature sounds, and penetrate this hidden world. Return to the lodge and enjoy a nice DINNER.

Day 11

At night get ready for an adventure at the HIDDEN RAINFOREST excursion, where you will explore the Amazon rainforest that gives way to nocturnal animals who display intriguing behavior patterns, and enhanced senses as adaptation mechanisms. Listen to nocturnal living nature sounds, and penetrate this hidden world. Return to the lodge and enjoy a nice DINNER.

Day 12

The sun rises once again and after an early BREAKFAST, you will take part of the INLAND COLLPA excursion. Walk 15 to 20 min. Towards one out of four clay licks at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion. Learn about this mammal inland collpa activity and the difference between collpas according to their location, while looking for footprints and traces of animal activity on the clay lick salted walls, such as the agoutis (Dasyprocta variegate), peccaries  among others.

You will be able to use the “blinds” especially designed to observe the normal routine of the local fauna without disrupting the environment. Then continue with our NATIVE FARM excursion where you will be able to learn local techniques of cultivation and taste some of the products.

Getting back to Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion you will have LUNCH. Get a rest and get ready for the COCHA water excursion. Enjoy a dugout canoe ride on the Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion cocha lake. Try native fishing applying the “catch and release” techniques, as you enjoy the scenery observing hoatzins , a diversity of fly catchers, and gray-necked woodrails .

 

Disembark at the remains of Fitzcarrald steam boat, learn about its history and how it inspired Inkaterra to ask Werner Herzog to film the award-winning “Fitzcarraldo”, best director at Cannes, 1982. You will be able to participate in

the INLAND COLLPA during the evening, where you will see different species and their night routines by observing through our “blinds”.

End up your day with a pleasant DINNER.
